Martha Sevetson Rush - Professional Development

Martha Rush, author of Beat Boredom: Engaging Tuned-out Teenagers, has taught at Mounds View High School in Minnesota for more than 20 years. She’s passionate about making challenging subjects like constitutional law, macroeconomics and the biology of the brain accessible to all high school students, and she enjoys the daily challenge of keeping teenagers engaged. In her career, Martha has taught journalism, language arts, American history, economics, personal finance, government, civil liberties, and psychology. Her latest project is working with makerspace/technology teachers to integrate design thinking into school tech programs.

Bringing her passion for making content accessible to all students, Martha offers professional development workshops on student engagement, authentic instruction, and inquiry learning, as well as subject-specific workshops.
