Cheryl L. Dozier is an assistant professor in the Department of Reading at the University at Albany. She is a former kindergarten, second-, and third-grade teacher in urban schools.
In 1996 she received the Reading Educator of the Year award from the New York State Reading Association for her work with preservice and inservice teachers.
Cheryl is coauthor of the book Critical Literacy/Critical Teaching (Teachers College Press) with Peter Johnston and Rebecca Rogers. Her interests include examining teacher's histories as learners and exploring how teachers become responsive educators.
