Permissions Information and Requests
All material published by Stenhouse, either in print or electronically, is copyrighted. Copyright law protects the original expression of an author, specifically the words or images that the author uses to convey their ideas. In the interest of protecting our authors’ original work, we take copyright law seriously.
For publishers and authors seeking permission to use Stenhouse material in a forthcoming publication, please fill out and submit this form. We will respond to you within 5 business days.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
We offer the following general guidelines when using Stenhouse materials:

Provided that you own a copy of the work, you may use and adapt a Stenhouse work for
your own individual use without seeking permission; this may include the use and adaptation of reproducible appendices, forms, rubrics, etc.

Please note
: If you intend to use these adaptations beyond your own classroom, including but not limited to posting materials online, you will need to request permission (see below).

You may quote, or make references to, a Stenhouse work (in print or online) in the form of discussion, review, or scholarship, provided that any excerpted material (a) does not exceed 300 words of plain text, and (b) comprises less than 10% of your original work. This does not hold true for images, charts, rubrics, and other graphics—public reproduction (in print or online) of such items requires permission.

with any questions. All permission issues are handled on a case-by-case basis, so if you are unsure about whether permission is required, we will be happy to advise you. In some cases, a fee may be assessed as we seek to compensate our authors for their work.

Video Permissions:
While we encourage schools and districts to have our videos available for their faculty and staff, online posting (including school intranets, Blackboard sites, etc.) requires written permission. Please fill out this form.
Foreign Rights:

Stenhouse does
