In Part I of the latest episode of our Author Conversations podcast, Mary Cappellini talks about some common misperceptions that teachers have about English language learners. She is the author of Balancing Reading and Language Learning.
"If you have a child that is speaking at the early-intermediate stage and is using present progressive, and you give him a text that's all in the present tense, the child will do wonderful with that book, but if you give him a book that's in the past tense at the same reading level and the child can't do it...is the book too hard or is the book not appropriate for that child's language level?"
