Stacey Shubitz

Stacey ShubitzStacey is a literacy consultant based in Harrisburg, PA, specializing in coaching teachers in the areas of reading and writing workshop. Her classroom experience includes teaching fourth grade at The Learning Community, a public charter school in Central Falls, RI; and teaching fifth grade in East Harlem, NY.

She graduated with a degree in communications from George Washington University. During college she taught Hebrew School in Washington, D.C., but after graduation she worked for iVillage.com and several small cosmetic companies before realizing that what she really wanted to do was to teach. "With every press release I wrote, I missed working with children more and more," she says. She earned her master's degree in literacy from Teachers College at Columbia University and her M.S. Ed. degree from Hunter College of the City University of New York.

One of her favorite things about teaching was taking educational field trips with her students. "One year, I believe I took my fifth grades on 20-25 field trips around the five boroughs of New York City," Stacey recalls. "I loved providing my students with experiences they weren’t used to having."

Stacey loves to cook, travel, and root for the NY Yankees.
